Essential functions:

Using AutoCAD and REVIT, efficiently produce detailed architectural, structural, mechanical, fire protection and electrical drawings and information packages from engineering inputs for aircraft engine test cells, power generation engine test cells, wind tunnels and other aerospace ground test facilities. Understand existing company products and utilize CAD systems and other methods as required to complete assigned tasks both at ASE and in the field. Make effective use of all applicable available software tools.

Responsibilities:

• Under general direction of engineers, design and develop facility systems for specific projects and proposals;
• Organize AutoCAD drawings per company configuration management plan and established procedures;
• Assist in development of a REVIT drawing/information package configuration management plan;
• Take into consideration basic functional inter-relationships, correct proportions, consideration of design criteria and operational details during production of drawings and information packages;
• Working under the direction of an engineer, plan and organize the detail development and drawing effort on specific projects, including establishment of drawing estimates, schedules and drawing requirements to meet budget and schedule constraints;
• Develop and maintain layouts, criteria and installation drawings and create detail and assembly drawings as required;
• Perform and/or determine the format, documentation and dimensional requirements within conceptual and detailed drawing packages;
• Report status, needs and problems to the responsible engineer on a regular basis;
• Assist with training and support of other less experienced designers;
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Education:

• Two years post high school engineering training at a college or vocational school or equivalent is required;
• Minimum of 5 years of applicable AutoCAD and REVIT experience is required;
• A high degree of proficiency with AutoCad and REVIT is required;
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor is desired;
• Experience with Facilities construction and construction industry standards are desired.

The architectural engineer will work on all aspects of the conceptual and detailed design of engine test cell and wind tunnel facilities including structural, civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical.   The position includes involvement during all phases of a project including proposal and bid, design, construction support, and equipment fabrication and installation.  

• Work as a team member in the conceptual and detailed layout and design development of ground test sites and facilities
• Work with CAD designers to produce specification and design drawings. Check and approve design drawings. Review and approve shop drawings
• On-site engineering support during building construction and Aero-Acoustic equipment installation. The on-site support includes review of contractor work for compliance with engineering drawings and specifications, shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions and RFI’s and coordinating field engineering changes with company engineering staff
• Layout, design, specify, or select overhead cranes, special engine handling systems, structural components, and aero acoustic equipment for installation into the facilities
• Prepare detailed supporting calculations for all aero-acoustic equipment and support component designs
• Assist in the selection, specification, and integration of special process equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, and cooling systems
• Conduct site surveys and support the construction, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of test facilities
• Assist the Marketing Group on proposal activities including review of customer specifications, conceptual layout of facilities, and development of ROM, budgetary, or fixed price costs of facilities. Assist in developing project schedules, writing proposals, and making technical presentations to customers
• Assist project managers and procurement in seeking out, qualifying, obtaining bids from, and providing managing support of A&E firms, construction companies, and subcontractors around the world who perform work for the company
• Interface as required with peers from other engineering disciplines that include Aerodynamic, Mechanical, and Controls & Instrumentation groups
• Perform work in line with project schedules and budgets

• BS or MS in Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
• 5 to 10 years of applicable design experience
• Strong background in Structural engineering with a working knowledge of Architectural details
• Working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical engineering or a willingness and desire to develop a working knowledge in those areas
• Experience with FEM modeling using RISA, ANSYS, or similar structural analysis and design programs
• Familiarity with national building codes and design codes including UBC, BOCA, AISC, and ACI
• Technical specification writing skills
• Production proficiency in AutoCAD
• Demonstrated ability to meet budgets and schedules
• PC skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, demonstrated initiative and attention to completeness, accuracy and detail
• Willingness to travel for business - up to 25%
• Licensed Professional Engineer

• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, FM, and other applicable codes and standards
• Experience with BIM systems such as Revit and/or Bentley
• Experience in construction cost estimating
   

Due to the nature of our work US citizenship or permanent resident status is required.

• Provide on-site customer support for installation, modifications, and repair of Company equipment. Equipment can be mechanical, electrical, electronic and computerized control systems.
• Install or supervise installation of all Company equipment at customer’s site following appropriate guidelines related to safety, quality and service programs
• Perform a full system checkout, calibration and operations verification
• Serve as Company representative while on client site
• Submit written daily and weekly logs for all site activity during installation, checkout and commissioning of the test facility
• Submit requests for parts, documentation changes and assist in writing

• AA degree or equivalent technical education required
• 1-3 years hands-on experience as a technician responsible for checkout and calibration
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting of both analog and digital control circuitry to component level
• Ability to meet business travel requirements – domestic and international approximately 60%
• Good mechanical aptitude; be able to interpret construction drawings and engineering drawings
• Communication skills, both verbal and written are required to effectively communicate with the customer and internal support personnel

• Lead design of closed loop control systems for mechanisms and processes, instrumentation systems, and data acquisition systems
• Evaluate customer requirements and develop solutions to meet project needs

• Plan, coordinate and supervise work of supporting engineers and designers
• Communicate with Project Managers and C&I Manager concerning progress and problems

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or applicable degree. An advanced degree is desirable.
• 5+ years experience with design and implementation of complex real time control systems
• Experience with control system simulation software such as Simulink
• Successful candidates must have a broad background in control theory, networks, instrumentation and electrical hardware with desired expertise in the following areas:
  • Data acquisition
  • Electrical process control and instrumentation design
  • Electrical-mechanical valve control design
  • Precision pressure and temperature control loops
  • Electrical control system wiring drawings
  • System integration of complex PID control loops and loop tuning
  • Writing instrument and valve and controls specifications
  • Control system field installation and check-out
• Aeronautical ground test facility or equipment experience a plus
• Demonstrated technical leadership and project leadership skills

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to interface productively with peer teams and departments
• Travel approximately 15 percent required                    

• Utilizing the customer PO, specification, contract, and as appropriate COMPANY proposal, to establish a sound project plan for fulfillment of customer requirements. The project plan will cover resourcing, cost, quality, schedule, and risk aspects.
• Proactively manage customer stakeholders in order to set expectations that are inline with project plans and in line with the project team’s ability to deliver. Establish a trust based mutually beneficial relationship with key customer stakeholders such that issues that develop can be openly addressed while avoiding unnecessary reactions.   Clarify and negotiate issues with the customer as needed.
• Motivate, lead, manage, and monitor assigned project team members in line with project requirements and company internal procedures. 
• Lead the cross disciplined engineering team ensuring overall project coordination and each discipline’s needs are understood / coordinated on a detailed level.
• Monitor project progress to ensure timely addressing of project issues though support staff, and through functional management.
• Prepare and maintain project forecasts and schedules for each project including materials, labor and subcontractors.
• Serve as communication focal point for customers, interdepartmental customers, vendors, and subcontractors for each assigned project.
• Act as company focal point for contract administration. Understand / clarify contract requirements, negotiate changes, achieve contractual acceptance / completion, issue invoices, and pursue delinquent payments as necessary.
• Participate in project proposal and contract negotiations in support of the proposal team

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years progressive project management experience leading technical projects
• Demonstrated in depth knowledge and experience in a professionally run project management environment coupled with a proven ability to adapt the project management approach to the specific project / client situation. 
• Demonstrated P&L leadership, at the project level, with a proven track record of leading and delivering successful projects within an engineer-to-order matrix structure. Strong leadership, problem solving, and motivational skills are essential factors. 
• Strong client-facing skills, with demonstrated success managing client expectations and successfully fulfilling project requirements on time and on budget.
• Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a proactive planned approach, delivering success in a cross-function team environment.
• Strong understanding of project management and engineering tools & practices. Past experience applying risk management and subcontractor management within a technical engineered project environment is essential. Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM), Systems Engineering, and Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials are a strong plus.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office applications and proficiency with related industry software.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to write and deliver clear and effective technical reports / presentations is essential.
• Able to meet business travel needs – up to 15%

• Provide leadership and technical direction to the aero team for specific program or project
• Provide design solutions for aerodynamic, fluid dynamic and thermodynamic systems
• Provide calculations, reports trade-off studies as well as technical presentations for projects and proposals to internal team and customers
• Monitor and assure technical performance, schedule and budget for areas of responsibility
• Demonstrate involvement in long-term planning and staff development of group

• Masters degree or PhD in Aeronautical engineering or other applicable area
• 10+ years work experience as an aero engineer  in a project engineering environment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in CFD analysis
• Familiarity in the areas of heat transfer and thermodynamics
• Previous demonstrated experience as a technical lead in a team environment
• Demonstrated understanding of:
• Subsonic, transonic and hypersonic aerodynamics related to the design of aero ground test equipment
• Acoustics
• Wind tunnel testing
• Strong analytical and technical problem solving skills
• Ability to work across all functions as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to meet business travel requirements – 15%
